YOGA
Yoga is a way of life, an integrated system of education
for the body, mind and inner spirit. This art of right
living was perfected and practiced in India thousands of
years ago but, since Yoga deals with universal truths,
its teachings are as valid today as they were in ancient
times. Yoga is a practical aid, not a religion and its
techniques may be practiced by Buddhists,
Jews,Christians,Muslims,Hindus,and atheists alike. Yoga
is union with all. Yoga is a life of self discipline
based on the tenets of “ simple living and high
thinking “. To the ancient Yogis, the body was seen as
a vehicle for the soul, and this is a useful metaphor in
the modern context. Just as a car requires a lubricating
system , a battery, a cooling system, the proper fuel ,
and a responsible driven behind the wheel, so the body
has certain needs if it is t function smoothly.
THE
SYNTHESIS OF YOGA
Over the centuries, four different paths of Yoga (Karma
Jnana,Bhakti, and Raja)have developed. They are often
likened to four branches of a banyan, or people, tree
which puts down roots from its branches and appears to
be growing down to Earth from Heaven. Since we each have
our own personality, we may prefer one path to another,
but a one-sided development is not recommended, as it
can lead to an imbalance in the personality. The whole
person –heart, intellect, and hand – should be
developed simultaneously, so a synthesis of the four
main paths is recommended. It is best to have one basis
sadhana (spiritual practice) or preferred path, but to
draw from the techniques of the others as well.
PHILOSOPHICAL
PATH- JNANA YOGA
This
philosophical or intellectual approach to spiritual
evolution describes the worls as an illusion. Using the
two powerful intellectual techniques of
Viveks(discrimination) and Vairagya (dispassion) . the
veils of illusion, or Maya, are lifed.Jnana Yoga is
usually regarded as the most difficult of the four paths
of Yoga This path demands a sharp mind and an unclouded
intellect.

SCIENTIFIC
PATH-RAJA YOGA
We each possess vast mental and psychic resources that
life virtually untapped below the surface of the
conscious mind. To release this latent potential, Raja
Yoga prescribes a psychological approach, based on a
partial system of concentration and control of the mind.
Right conduct, a healthy body and steady posture, breath
regulation, and withdrawal of the senses are recommended
to achieve this. Only of this foundation is firm can the
superstructure of concentration and meditation
succeed.Hatha Yoga is a form of Raja Yoga that
emphasizes asanas and pranayama.Without Yamas, Niyamas,
and the other steps ( see below), it is not Yoga.
THE
EIGHT STEPS OF RAJA YOGA
By observing their own thoughts, scientifically and
objectively, the ancient yogis studied the many
obstacles to bringing the mind under conscious control.
The sage Patanjali compiled their finding in the Raja
Yoga Sutras, a text that describes the inner workings of
the mind, and also provides an eight-stepped ( ashtanga
) blueprint for controlling the restless mind and
enjoying lasting peace.
WHAT
ARE THE STEPS
1.Yamas (abstentions)-truth, non-violence,
control of sexual energy, non- stealing,
non-covetousness.
2.Niyamas (observances) – austerities, purity,
and contentment, study surrender of the ego.
3.Asanas – steady poses.
4.Pranayama – control of vital energy.
5.Pratyahara- withdrawal of the senses.
6.Dharana- concentration of the mind.
7.Dhyana – meditation.
8.Samadhi – the super –conscious state.
METHOD
OF AKHANDA MEDITA ION
There is no time limit of this meditation. You can do so
in morning, noon, evening or night as and when you get
time you can practice it. Sit erect easily keeping
vertebrae straight. If somehow you cannot sit
easily, sitting erect is not essential. You can do so
lying easy on Shavasana. Those unable to sit on ground
may do so sitting on a hard board or chair, legs bending
on the ground. But while doing so, no part of body
should touch the ground. No bad conductor between body
and ground for example rug, durries, wooden stool even
wearing shoes this meditation can be practiced. Close
your eyes let every idea good or bad harmful or
beneficial favorable or unfavorable only look through
them with quite feelings. No idea has to be arrested or
released. You have just to see all as an onlooker. In
course of time all such feelings will themselves
sub-side be a calm spectator to this all passively
unmoved.
Now set your mind to belly. You will feel that stomach
comes out at every breathing. Go through this all as a
mere spectator. This natural and continuous action as
before with full ease. Let mind see this all as easily
as it can.
Now set your mind only to breathe in and breathe out
action. Set this all with quite feelings easily. If in
between your mind is distracted to other side, do not
think it an obstacle or loss of concentration, because
such thing itself is creator of hindrance.

Vipassana
Meditation
Vipassana Meditation is a wonderful way of working with
your mind. It will help you to understand your mind
better in order to develop your own wisdom and peace.
Although Vipasana Meditation is not a religion, it will
enhance your faith, culture and your lifestyle by
clearing your mind and allowing you to focus on the
only moment available in life - the present moment. The
potential is within each of us and anyone can realize it
by making a small effort.
Vipassana means 'looking inside'. It is not relaxation
or visualization, but rather an enhancement of your
mindfulness as well as a greater awareness of your
breath.
You should studied at the centre learning Vipassana
(insight meditation) eventually becoming. Yogiraj Dr.

LOVE
FOR ALL …..GREAT AND SMALL…..
May all beings be happy,
May all be healthy,
May People have the well being of all in mind,
May nobody suffer in anyway
Relaxationand
Visualization Therapy
Relaxation and Visualization are two separate
stress-relieving techniques often practiced together.
The relaxation techniques calm the tensed muscles,
while the visualization methods use positive and
appealing images to overcome mental and emotional
problems.
Researchers proved that if body is relaxed, mind would
follow suit as a relaxed mind produces significant
physical benefits.
True relaxation is a healing process focusing on calming
mind and body, turning your attention inward to control
and resolve the effects of stress. Relaxation is an
acquired skill as it helps prevent diseases and
increases feelings of well being if practiced correctly.
Visualization is the conscious use of your imagination
for creating attractive and positive images to heal or
change aspects of your life. In order to visualize you
should be relaxed. If it is used in a proper way, it
helps to deepen the relaxation process overcoming many
of the mental and emotional problems that can lead to
ill health.
Relaxation and visualization are two separate
disciplines, often combined to form a single therapy,
which is basically a technique to combat stress. It is
accurately a state of physical and mental relief, where
tension, fear and anxiety are released replacing with
calm and peaceful feelings and is actually a mental
state of being rather than an activity or form of
inactivity.
Many people are benefited from spiritual healing. It is
now an established therapy in its own right as it has
won the respect of the medical establishment.
The healing energy passing through a channel from its
spiritual source to the person who needs it is called
spiritual healing. The channel is usually a person who
is called healer, and transfers the healing energy to
the patient through his hands. The healer is indirectly
responsible for healing acting as a medium only. The
word 'spiritual' refers to the divine nature of the
energy. Healers agree that it comes from one external,
invisible intelligent source through which the healing
energy is available to all.
Sunlight has all eight colours of the spectrum: red,
orange, yellow, green, turquoise, blue, violet and
magenta which has been researched to validate the
importance of treating various diseases. For example,
looking at blue light lowers blood pressure giving
relief to the autonomic nervous system, while red light
increases blood pressure. Colour therapy treats mental,
emotional and physical problems restoring the person's
health by using colour in different ways. Some
therapists combine colour with reflexology, acupuncture
and aromatherapy for best results.
SPIRITUAL
HEALING and PRANIC HEALING
According to Selye, stress is unavoidable in life. (The
emotional center in the brain, when upset, stimulates
the oxintic cells to secrete more hydrochloric acid in
the stomach, which leads to hyperacidity.) When it goes
beyond a certain tolerance level (which varies from
person to person) the system breaks down resulting in
illness.
To the scientific picture of body-mind interrelationship
given above, certain new concepts were added. One was
the idea that if negative emotions could cause illness,
positive emotions can cause "wellness". The
attention of medical experts & the imagination of
the public was captured by this innovative idea when
Normal Cousins, editor of Saturday Review, published a
convincing account of his recovery from a debilitating
& incurable disease of the connective tissue. The
patient's understanding of the disease & his active
participation in the recovery process was highlighted by
his case.
The most difficult and controversial aspect of holistic
health is another idea that by creating proper awareness
within himself man could exercise a certain degree of
voluntary control over the healing processes taking
place in his body. After the aftermath of Pavlov's
demonstration of conditioned reflexes, Our center that
several involuntary processes such as regulation of body
heat, heart rhythm, production of urine, BP etc which
were mediated by the autonomic nervous system could be
brought under voluntary control. The above finding was
corroborated later during experiments conducted on
animals under 'operant' (voluntary) conditioning.
Hundreds of people found that they could bring under
control their heart rhythm, brain waves etc with the
help of the biofeedback technique. Indian Yogis in the
West also demonstrated that they could alter metabolic
rate, heartbeat, body temperature etc simply by their
will power, without the use of any biofeedback
instruments.
Holistic health practitioners invaded the scene at this
juncture. They showed that not only certain organs but
the working of the whole system such as the digestive
system, the respiratory system, circulatory system etc (
known as the Systems concept ) could be regulated simply
by changing one's life-style & affinities. It was
claimed that even diseases such as cancer could be cured
or held in check be creating strong faith & the
right type of consciousness. Despite the exaggeration
and the propaganda, which accompanied these claims, the
basic idea that man can consciously regulate involuntary
and unseen physiological processes came to be accepted
as a fact by the medical community.
Various meditation techniques like Transcendental
Meditation, Zen, Yoga were becoming popular in the West
in those days. Apart from the spiritual benefits, (In
Transcendental Meditation, the existence of a fourth
major state of Consciousness called Transcendental
Consciousness was proved by Yogiraj Dr. Pranab chaitanya
practical Yoga teachers showed that Meditation also
produced other beneficial effects such as reduction of
tension, lowering of BP, relaxation of muscles, increase
of concentration & work efficiency & even
increase of immunological resistance to diseases. As a
result, some form of Meditation has become an essential
part of most holistic health programmes.
The success of Acupuncture, herbology etc which came to
be recognized as ' Alternative Medicine “, lent much
support to the holistic health position. Two great
discoveries strengthened this position. One was the
discovery of 'biological clocks' in nature and the
existence of biorhythms in the human body. The other
discovery was that the brain produced certain neuro-modulators
called endorphins, which have the property of reducing
pain. The production of these natural painkillers is
influenced by our thoughts and endorphins are produced
when our EEG brain waves are in an alpha state ( 8.5
cycles per sec).
Pranic
Therapy Part III
The Universal Stream of Consciousness known as Qi (
pronounced Chee) in Chinese & Ki in Japanese is
known as the Cosmic Prana in Sanskrit. Healing using
this Life-force Energy is called Pranic Therapy. This
article is a continuation of the earlier article Pranic
Therapy Part II.
There are 2 types of seekers in the Path Celestial,
those who aspire for liberation and ordinary mundane
seekers. Liberation is defined as a yearning for Eternal
Life and the first group has an intense yearning for the
Life Divine. Conferred with changeless faith and
indomitable will, they keep up relentless struggle and
get glimpses of Transcendental Consciousness. They have
the Goal of Self-Actualization fixed in their minds
& mental problems & physical ailments do not
deter them.
But My mahatmas, those of noble souls, Who tread the
Path Celestial, worship Me Unendingly they keep their
yearning for Me ! ( The Song Celestial )
All the great mystics of all civilizations belonged to
this group. He still adheres to the high and difficult
road That sole leads to Eternity's peaks! But this
group, unfortunately is a minority. The majority
of spiritual seekers belong to the second group. These
people have true aspiration but it is either not intense
enough or is not supported by a strong will to undergo
prolonged inner struggles or to bear the resultant
physical or mental reactions. Many of them do not have
any hope of realizing the Self in this life, & so
they are unwilling to sacrifice health or peace of mind
for such an elusive and distant goal. The outer
instruments for mortal man are not fit to endure the
severe rigors of this spiritual journey or face its
subtle & and formidable dangers. Self Actualization
can only come from immense Grace Divine.
Ordinary mundane people find it difficult to make
spiritual progress their sole concern in life although
they may have committed themselves to it in a general
way. For them, an integral scheme of life in which the
considerations of health & secular values receive as
much attention as spiritual orientation is what is
needed. This present article is meant for such seekers.
The Self as the basis of all Love. Why do we collect
wealth? For whose sake is wealth loved ? It is for the
sake of the Self. Why do we love our wife &
children? For whose sake is the wife & children
loved? It is for the sake of the Self. Everything in the
universe - husband, wife, children, everything - is
loved for the sake of oneself. The Self, when known,
everything is known. What do we mean by oneself here?
Vedanta speaks of two selves in man - a lower self and a
higher Self. The lower self, regarded as the false self,
is the sum total of one's instincts, drives &
impulses. The higher Self refers to the pure Atman,
which is regarded as the true nature of man. Vedanta
states that the lower self, if left uncontrolled, will
act as one's own enemy, and, if purified &
controlled, will act as one's own friend. When the lower
self is purified by yogic techniques & attuned to
the higher Self, self-hate disappears & love for the
higher Self dawns.
He sees indeed who sees in all alike, The living lordly
Self, Self supreme Imperishable amidst the perishing
(The Song Celestial) when this divine love blossoms in
one's bosom, one’s attitude towards his body changes.
He now begins to love his body as an instrument for the
manifestation of the Divine Self. Vedic Scriptures speak
of the body as " the temple of the His great
transparent mirror, Self". As a matter of fact,
Vedic temples are modeled after the pattern of the human
organism.
Symbolism behind Vedic temples. Man has three bodies -
physical, astral & causal. The outer wall of the
Vedic temple represents the physical body of man. The
inner wall represents the astral body and the innermost
wall represents the Causal body. Deep within these three
bodies is the Self, the Atman who is represented by the
Deity ! The word temple is derived from the Latin word
tempulum, a place where Law and Justice can be
administered. The principle behind the temple, is Know
Thyself !
Am I a god, then? Yes. In these pure features I behold
Creative Nature to soul unfold ( Goethe ) The body is
given prime importance in Vedic ritualistic worship
known as Puja. Apart from ritualistic worship, service
is divine & regarded as a form of worship known as
Yajna. Vedic Scriptures enjoin five types of service
known as Pancha-Mahayajna; service to the gods, service
to sages, service to manes, service to human beings,
service to animals. The ancient Law-giver Manu has given
the injunction to divinize the body through these five
practices.
(" Through the repeated practice of these five
great yajnas, the human body gets divinized".)
"The human body is the greatest instrument for
Self-Actualization ", said the famous Sanskrit poet
Kalidasa. Maintaining the divine status of the body is
not easy. It should be kept as clean, healthy & we
should not allow any kind of physical or mental
indulgence to defile its sanctity & harmony.
("Chastity is the flowering in man " said
Thoreau and continence has been prescribed for spiritual
progress). That is to say, change in attitude towards
the body brings with it a new responsibility for one's
own health. Surprising indeed is the fact that many
people think that restoring health and curing diseases
are solely the responsibility of the medical profession.
In the holistic health system, responsibility for
falling ill & getting well both rest primarily with
the patient. The doctor only assists in curing himself.
As Albert Schweitzer said " All healing is
Self-healing ".
Holistic medicine postulates that the responsibility for
healthcare rests in the patient's hands because that is
where the knowledge and control of the variables lie (
diet, stress, exercise, genetics, emotion &
medication).
1. Knowledge of the Psychosomatic Machine If the
patient is aware of the disease and its a etiology,
about his body's immune power and if he can bear
physical pain temporarily, with a stoic calmness, he can
avoid a lot of unnecessary medication. In the Holistic
Model, the cause of any disease is understood in terms
of the whole person and not in terms of a particular
organ or tissue. As Sir William Osler put it, it is more
import to know the patient who has the disease than the
disease of the patient. Plato remarked that " the
treatment of the parts should not be attempted without
treatment of the entirety" The one person who knows
about the patient more than anybody else is the patient
himself.
Compliments should go to Western Science which has
discovered a lot of knowledge by research & which is
the result of the painstaking labor of thousands of
dedicated scientists for more than 200 years. This
accumulated treasure is humanity's precious heritage and
only charlatans will ignore or undervalue it. It is
imperative that every educated person should have a
basic knowledge of human anatomy & physiology, and
also of Western psychology. However this research is
analytical and incomplete.
The Sages of India developed a Holistic Model 2500 years
ago.
The Five Levels of Being - The Yogic Model These are the
five concentric sheaths enveloping the Self, the Divine
Spark in man !
1. Physical Sheath (Annamaya Kosha)
2. Vital Sheath (Pranamaya Kosha)
3.Mental Sheath (Manomaya Kosha)
4.Intellectual Sheath (Vijnanamaya Kosha)
5.Bliss Sheath (Anandamaya Kosha)
Disease is the imbalance in any of the three lower
sheaths of existence - physical, vital & mental. The
microcosm & the macrocosm are are in unbroken
communion with each other & are structured on the
same pattern. At the level of the physical sheath, food,
water & oxygen enter the microcosm and Co2, waste
products etc return to the macrocosm. This is true of
other sheaths also. The individual cannot exist
independent of the cosmos. The interdependence of the
Microcosm & the Macrocosm is known in Classical
Philosophy as the Bio-Cosmic tie-up. If the exchange
between the physical sheath and the physical world
around it is defective, the body will become ill, and
death will result if it is stopped altogether.
The
Tantric Model
A different but parallel model of human personality was
developed by the Tantras. Whereas the Upanishads speak
of Five Sheaths or Koshas, the Tantras speak of six
chakras. These Chakras are ( in ascending order)
1.Root Chakra ( Muladhara )
2.Anal Chakra ( Manipura )
3.Solar Plexus Chakra ( Swadhistana )
4.Heart Chakra ( Anahata )
5.Throat Chakra ( Vishuddhi )
6.Eyebrow Chakra ( Ajna )
Life is regarded as the unfolding of the Self at six
different levels of consciousness known as Chakras in
the magnificent Tantric Model. In mundane people the
unfolding takes place only at the first three chakras
which represent procreation, metabolism & speech;
the higher three chakras remain latent. The awakening of
the higher chakras results in the unfolding and
fulfillment of Life Divine. When the Kundalini, the
Serpentine Power inherent in humans, rises from the Root
Chakra ( Muladhara ) to the Crown Chakra ( Sahasrara ),
man achieves Cosmic Consciousness.
The Spirit shall take up the human play. The earthly
life become the Life Divine! More quality information
about Tantra & Yantras can be had from The first
dynamic experiential medium for Spiritual awakening,
expansion of consciousness and integration of the body,
mind and spirit.
REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning life energy. It is a
complementary therapy and one of the many facets of
alternative medicine available today. It is a
method of natural healing. This therapy was discovered
by Dr. Mikao Usui, Japanese theologies. In this therapy,
hands are used as the instruments of healing. This
therapy is performed by either a Reiki master or a Reiki
practitioner.
Reiki is centered upon universal life energy. Reiki
energy is regarded as life energy at its most effective.
It has a divine quality and it gives a feeling of detachment
from the world so that a problem doesn’t affect the
user. Those who use Reiki regularly, often find they are
more joyful, lively and their own inbuilt energy is
enhanced. Body organs such as the skin and protective
systems such as the immune system are improved. Deep
relaxation is the main factor in Reiki therapy and this
is very much dependent upon the divine quality
attributed to the energy.
Effects
of Reiki
1.It enables the universal energy to be received.
2.It creates a feeling of deep relaxation.
3.It removes energy blockages, allowing a flow of
life energy throughout the body.
4.It removes toxins of various sorts.
When each Reiki therapy session is complete the whole
body may be energized via the root Chakra.
Preparation
before Reiki
Remove Jewellery - Before Reiki, Jewellery must be
removed, so as to enable the free flow of life energy.
A Wash hands- Washing hand makes the hands pleasant to
feel, for the recipient of Reiki.
Say a prayer- this is in order to concentrate upon and
acknowledge your aims.
If there are any physical blemishes such as burns, the
hands should be held a few inches above the skin at this
area. If the person is suffering from any illness, he
should seek advice from a doctor as to whether they can
undergo Reiki therapy.
he extent of each session of Reiki will vary depending
upon circumstances and the individual receiving
treatment. In the case of a small child or an elderly
person, time limit of the therapy should be limited to
15 to 20 minutes.
Positions
for Treatment
Reiki can be done on various parts of the body like
head, chest and abdomen, back etc. There are various
basic positions or arrangements in which hands are
placed in different parts of the body.
Reiki on the head is useful in case of cold, sinusitis,
eye complaints, allergies, fatigue, headaches, asthma
and circulatory problems. In the case of Reiki on the
head, the hands are placed on either side of the nose,
with the palms covering the eyes, the thumbs rest by the
bridge of the nose and fingertips cover the cheeks and
reach the upper lip. In the second arrangement for the
head, the hands are placed over the ears, with the
fingertip extending down the jaw line to the neck,
encompassing the ears of course, which includes the
semicircular canals, responsible for balance.
Reiki on the back is useful in cases of lung and heart
diseases, muscular tension, headaches and related
condition. There are a number of arrangements which can
be adopted on the back and lower back. In one of this
arrangement, the hands are placed across the shoulder
blades at mid to upper point, to influence the
intestines, lung, heart and various muscles in the neck
and shoulder region. If the hands are placed lower down
the back, around the midriff (on the lower ribs) this
position will accommodate the kidneys and adrenal
glands.
In addition to these specific positions, there are many
other Reiki positions in different parts of the body to
deal with multitude of complaints.
Long-term whole body Reiki can be adopted not only to
counteract a particular symptom, but also to treat the
whole body to achieve relaxation. Relaxation is possible
with the removal of block ages in energy flow and
dispersal of toxins. Reiki also facilitates faster
recovery from illness. This therapy can be used
advantageously with other therapies like Gem therapy,
Aromatherapy, Homeopathy, Yoga etc.
